In my last post I talked about the fact that in order to become successful we need to change paths because otherwise we would already be successful.

T. Harv Eker shared the advice from his first mentor that If you are not yet successful it is because there is something you don’t know (yet).

So you need to go out there and find out what it is that you don’t know yet and then change your path accordingly which also means giving up some things along the way. Now that’s just how it is, but one question that also comes up is: How do I know WHAT I need to sacrifice?

Of course there is no standard answer and it’s often not easy to find out either. You need to be patient and persistent at the same time. Keep searching, keep adjusting, and always keep your goal in mind.

I usually have my clients go through a 3-step process which goes like this:

  1. Write down your top 3 goals, the big thing you really want to achieve and why.
  2. Write down what steps you need to take in order to get there. This is your action plan and most goal setting advice ends here.
  3. Now write down the top 3 things you will (most likely) have to sacrifice in order to reach your goals. This is the part that’s mostly overlooked yet equally important!
